Senators demand extension in PM's relief package for KPK

Compensation for demolished houses, factories demanded

Asks for restoration of wireless communication in four districts

Islamabad:

Ten Senators from Khyber Paktoonkhwa and Fata on Thursday demanded that PM's Relief Package for the province should be extended to three years.

 

They also demanded to provide interest-free loans to small traders, compensation for houses and factories demolished by security forces, rent for the owner of properties acquired by law enforcing agencies and restoring mobile phone communications.

 

This demand came in a meeting at FPCCI Capital Office summoned by President FPCCI Senator Haji Ghulam Ali.

 

The meeting was attended by Senator Haji Adeel, Senator Prof. Ibrahim, Senator Maulana Saleh Shah, Senator Maulana Gul Naseeb, Senator Azam Swati, Senator Hafiz Rasheed Ahmed, Senator Maulana Abdul Rashid, Senator Muhammad Idrees Safi and Senator Talha Mehmood.

 

Other present on the occasion included VPs FPCCI Muhammad Akbar Khan and Fazle Elahi, President Tribal CCI Fayaz Ali Khan and Chairman Coordination Raza Khan.

 

Speaking at the meeting Haji Ghulam Ali said that Relief Package should not have been for selected districts but for the whole province, Fata and Pata as every area has suffered from terrorism.

 

He demanded that this package should be extended for three years to boost the economic activities which are at the lowest ebb.

 

It was unanimously agreed that compensation should be provided to the owners of houses and factories demolished by security forces.

 

Security forces should ensure payment of rent to the owners of the properties that they are using since years, the Senators demanded.

 

They asked government to lift curbs from cellular communications in the districts of Bannu, Tank, Dear Ismail Khan, and Lakki Marwat.

 

All senators stressed that government should lend a patient ear to their demands and include it in upcoming budget so that province can excel and business activities can gain momentum.
