Personal, professional commitment must for excellence

 

Islamabad: Jan 31.

Samina Fazil, founder President, Islamabad Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) on Tuesday said women entrepreneurs should work on a well thought-out strategy based on innovation to ensure success in life.

 

Entrepreneurial success involves personal and professional commitment to excellence without which growth in business will be difficult, she said.

 

Speaking at a workshop on "Future Strategies for Women Entrepreneurs", organised by IWCCI in collaboration with UNIDO, Samina Fazil said that success needs calculated risks, value chain development, innovation and making learning a habit.

 

She said that business grows with enhanced professional self-confidence while there is no future for those whose business or thoughts are stagnant.

 

Women are weak in time management as well as spending workday time and energy, she observed. Studying pattern of successful people will save time and energy, not to mention money, she added.

 

Written goals are imperative for a satisfying future as it help a businesswomen to remained focused, said Samina.

 

Procrastination is the enemy of business while positive actions, contentment, balance, relaxation and rejuvenation pay dividends, she said adding that research shows that happy people make more money.

 

Others present on the occasion were Unido International Trainer Jeff Readman, Chairman PASDEC Ihsan Ullah Khan, National Programme Coordinator UNIDO Shahina Waheed, Pervain Khan of FWBL, Saleha Kapadia, Trainer EPI, Shahid ur Rehman, Programme Manager EPI Areefa Azam, and others.

 

They said that women entrepreneurs needs to employ indigenous technology to save costs and get better returns.

 

Concept of value engineering should be introduced in Pakistan while the role of support structure should be enhanced, they observed.

 

Businesswomen usually don't realize which activities are actually helping them and which are wastage of time and finances. They also lack skills to network, exchange ideas and information, and associate with people who can lift them up, the speakers said.

 

Majority of women would prefer to remain in their comfort zones that keep their limits confined. Successful women learn how to empower themselves that keep them going forward in the years to come, the speakers concluded.
